Introducing Travel Training Australia

 

Co-founded by Leanne Townsend and Kevin Westerdale in 2014, Travel Training Australia is a specialist travel training company offering a variety of travel courses and training services.

 

Kevin and Leanne worked together for 10 years in a large training organisation in Brisbane where they were award winning trainers and assessors.  In 2014, they decided to combine their knowledge and experience in education, their passion for the Travel Industry and small business expertise, to start their own bespoke training college; Travel Training Australia.

 

In a relatively short period of time, Travel Training Australia has built a solid reputation for quality and outstanding customer service and is well-known in the industry as a leading travel training company.  As a ‘boutique’ training company Leanne and Kevin offer a very personalized experience for each student and provide a unique training program that incorporates their vast experience to give every student the tools they need to achieve high quality outcomes that will help them to be job ready for the travel industry.  Great attention to detail and the most up to date course content, along with the use of 21st century technology ensure their students receive a quality training experience.

Kevin and Leanne were the integral teaching team winning the prestigious AFTA National Travel Industry Award for the best training institution two years in succession (2010, 2011) in past teaching roles, and as Travel Training Australia were again recognised and awarded the AFTA National Travel Industry Award in 2017. ​

 

Meet Kevin

 

Kevin has been in the travel industry for over 24 years where he has held key management roles including ticket office manager and customer service manager with Concorde International Travel (now Air Tickets Australia).  Kevin is our ‘airfare guru’ with vast experience and knowledge in the complex world of IATA airfares and ticketing, making him a much sought after travel trainer.

 

Kevin operates a very popular airfares helpdesk service which assists new and experienced travel agents with international airfare construction and general troubleshooting.

 

He is also a travel agent in his spare time and a very keen soccer fan so he is always open to a quick chat in all things soccer related.

Kevin has 10 years teaching experience with a major training institute in Brisbane, and since 2014 Kevin has developed and delivered online courses in international airfares, ticketing, reservations and travel agency operations for Travel Training Australia.

Kevin’s formal qualifications include a Diploma of Tourism and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

 

Meet Leanne

 

Leanne is a teacher and travel industry professional, experienced in managing travel agency operations, small business ownership, and travel teaching and training.  As a travel consultant and owner/manager of an award-winning, high profile travel agency franchise located in Sydney, Leanne gained a wealth of knowledge in business and travel industry expertise that has led to a successful teaching career spanning 16 years teaching Certificate III and Diploma courses in Travel and Tourism. 

 

As an experienced small business owner, Leanne has well developed project management and business compliance skills to ensure Travel Training Australia is managed and operated well within ASQA and ATAS/AFTA standards and guidelines.  

Maintaining strong links to industry through consulting and in her part-time role as Training & Development Coordinator for a leading home-based host agency, Leanne is well qualified to guide students in the right direction to ensure they are job ready once they complete their studies.

Leanne is committed to teaching and learning excellence, and whilst studying for her Bachelor of Further Education and Training at the University of Southern Queensland, she specialized in the fields of teaching and learning in a flexible environment, designing, writing and implementing educational programs, online facilitating and communications. Additional qualifications include the Diploma of Tourism and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
